Published on November 25, 2013 | By Adrianne LaGruth

Our own Trevor Sones ’10 is a dance major who has used years of hard work and dedication to earn his role in many different national tours! On Thursday, November 21st we welcomed Trevor back to campus as an alum where he shared some choreography with our dance students!

Trevor was born and raised in Clearfield, PA and began studying dance at age 15. Trevor was a Mercyhurst University graduate in 2010 with a B.A. degree in dance. While at Mercyhurst, Trevor studied under several accomplished teachers in ballet, modern, jazz, hip-hop, musical theater, and tap. Since then Trevor has worked with several world renowned choreographers such as Bruce Marks, Matt West, Rasta Thomas, Bill Evans and Diego Salterini.

Trevor is currently touring North America and Canada with Disney’s National Tour of Beauty and the Beast as part of the Ensemble. He has also danced on the national tour of Cats as a Male Kitten Swing and on Royal Caribbean’s Hairspray as Brad.

Regionally Trevor has been a part of shows such as Chicago, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Hello Dolly, The Producers and Bye Bye Birdie.  Trevor was also a dancer in the film Step Up 3D.

Recently while living in NYC, Trevor was a backup dancer for Paige Davis in a NYC LIVE showcase, danced in a music video for “Born Strange” by the pop artist Haley Bowery, featured for dance in an upcoming Indie Film, was a backup dancer for the hit music group The Wanted and was a company member of BEings Dance Company.

Trevor is no stranger to the stage. Alumni and students alike have seen his performances while at Mercyhurst and on tour. He is a professional artist and is a beautiful ambassador for the Mercyhurst Dance Department. Our dance students were excited to have a successful guest choreographer return to the ‘Hurst to contribute back to his alma mater! Merde to Trevor as he continues all of his successes!
