Mercyhurst announces personnel changes in support of strategic plan

Published on January 9, 2013 | By Ryan Palm

Mercyhurst University President Thomas J. Gamble, Ph.D., today announced personnel changes intended to maximize the achievement of the goals set forth in the university’s strategic plan, which was recently approved by the board of trustees.

The plan contains major goals around enrollment growth, particularly in the associate degree and graduate degree schools. It also contains goals related to academic quality, advances in information technology and distance learning, and with growing the endowment. If these goals are achieved, Mercyhurst anticipates ending the decade in a very strong academic and financial position.

Effective immediately, Jeanette Britt ’94 will join the president’s staff as she assumes the role of chief information officer. For a transitional period, she will also continue as associate vice president for advancement, wherein she will be assisted by Assistant Vice President for Advancement Ryan Palm ’07.

Over the next couple of months, David Livingston, Ph.D., who has achieved so much as vice president for advancement, will transition into a new role as an associate provost with responsibility for overseeing the development of new academic programs that will help the university achieve its enrollment goals. With that move, Monsignor David Rubino, Ph.D., who has capably steered the Walker School of Business over the last two years as interim dean, will transition into the role of vice president for external affairs, which will include the advancement function.

David Livingston, Jeanette Britt, Monsignor Rubino and Ryan Palm will work closely together to effectuate an efficient transition in these important roles during the next few months. A national search will commence for a permanent dean of the Walker School of Business, Hospitality and Communication. Amy Doolan, D.B.A., associate dean of the Walker School, will assist Monsignor Rubino and the administration in the search and with the transition within the Walker School.

The advancement team is seeking applications for the vacant position of director of alumni relations and annual giving. The job listing can be found online, and applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
