Erie, Pa. – During an abbreviated meeting during Homecoming & Family Weekend 2012, the Mercyhurst University Alumni Association welcomed five new alumni members to their national Board of Directors. The body – typically referred to ask the Alumni Board – represents over 17,000 Mercyhurst alumni around the world. The board meets four to five times per year, and traditionally recruits new members during the spring and summer months. Members are appointed to three-year terms, with a maximum three consecutive terms served.
Joining the Alumni Board for this academic year:
- Emilee Ballaro ’05, New York, N.Y.
- Cheryl Johnson Cavendish ’89, Dimondale, Mich.
- Robert Dubik ’78, Cazenovia, N.Y.
- John McIlroy ’06, Okemos, Mich.
- Olga Polishchuk ’07, Alexandria, Va.
These members will help ensure that the Alumni Board is representative of most generations, class years, and academic programs that make up the alumni population.
During the September meeting the Alumni Board also welcomed Jacki Papa ’14, the newly appointed student representative to the board. Jacki is a junior biology major who serves the board by virtue of her position as President of the Student Alumni Association (SAA).
The Alumni Board plans to meet four more times during the current academic year, with their next meeting scheduled for Nov. 3.
