Sally Kohler `51 elected first Emerita Alumni Board Member

July 20, 2013Mercyhurst University Alumni Board Members voted Sally Carlow Kohler as Mercyhurst University’s first Emerita Alumni Board Member.

Sally Kohler `51Ms. Kohler graduated from Mercyhurst with a Bachelor’s degree in History in 1951 and later a Master’s degree from Gannon University in Guidance and Counseling.

Sally worked in the Erie School District for over 46 years;  as a teacher and guidance counselor in many of the elementary and middle schools as well as the Child Study Department. Throughout the years, Sally has remained extremely loyal to her alma mater and credits much of her successes in life to her Mercyhurst experience.

She currently serves on the Children Services Advisory Board, the Erie County Office of Children and Youth Advisory Board, Erie County Juvenile Probation Diversion Committee, and 10 other local organizations and executive boards within the Erie community.

Sally has served consecutively as an Alumni Board Member for over 27 years and held the title of Alumnae Board President in 1958. Sally has cherished each year spent on the board and will continue to be involved with the University’s Alumni Association as much as possible. Sally could not be more deserving of this honor and we are so grateful and proud to call her one of our own!
