Based on past history, we’ve assembled a few Frequently Asked Questions regarding Family Weekend. If you still have questions about the weekend, please feel free to contact us at (814) 824-2392 or firstname.lastname@example.org. We hope to see you on campus Sept. 21-23!
Q: Where can I find the schedule of events?
A: The schedule can be found by clicking here, or visiting http://hurstalumni.org/family and then clicking “Schedule of Events” on the left hand sidebar.
Q: Can I register for Family Weekend over the phone?
A: Yes. We prefer online registration for accuracy and resource allocation, but registration via telephone is perfectly acceptable! Simply call (814) 824-2392 and speak with Debbi during the hours of 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. M-F. It is best to have the schedule or registration form handy when making the call.
Q: If I don’t want to attend any of the events on the schedule, do I still need to register?
A: No, registration is not mandatory. Registration simply allows our staff to properly plan for food/beverage counts as well as seating for certain meals. Most events allow walk-up ticket sales, but we’re always grateful for advance registration for planning purposes.
Q: Where do I go on campus to register and pickup tickets?
A: Registration takes place in a tent north of Tullio Field. Best choice for parking would be in the lot adjacent to the Mary D’Angelo Performing Arts Center (PAC). Directions to campus can be found here.
Q: What is the difference between the Homecoming and Family Weekend schedules?
A: There are two events that are alumni-only during the weekend. The first is the Tailgate during the football game. The second is the Halfway to St. Patrick’s Day Party held following the football game. Unfortunately due to space limitations, we are unable to admit parents to these events.
Q: What are Friday Night Lights and Hurst Fest?
A: Friday Night Lights is an informal gathering held on Friday evening which features a pep rally, meeting Mercyhurst athletes, and socializing amongst Mercyhurst alumni, parents, and friends. The event features food, beer, wine, soda, and plenty of good company. The event costs $10, which covers your food and drink throughout the event. Hurst Fest is a festival of sorts which features a caricature artist, cotton candy, popcorn, caramel apples, inflatables, a petting zoo, and much more! The event is free of charge, does not require registration, and takes place on the lawn between the Student Union and Baldwin Hall.
